The film is a production from a major, global studio. It illustrates a conglomerate, in this case Warner Bros.
Its success was of major importance to the studio in terms of funding other projects – such as merchandise, other films with Dan Lin (producer)

Exam Question
The lego movie is a big budget 'tent-pole' movie. Explain at least two benifits of this for warners bros.

One benifit of the Lego Movie being a 'tent-pole' movie for Warner bros is because due to the movies great sucsess that produced $469 million from the public watching it which as a result gave money to warner bros, this then not only helped warner bros make a profit and not go bankrupt but also allowed them to have funding to make more productions and due to its success it funded a sequal to be produced by warner bros.

Another benifit of the Lego Movie being a 'tent-pole' movie for Warner bros is that it allowed funding for other products such as merchaindise and as a result after the movie lego sold of 62 billion lego sets which encouraged Warner bros to work with Dan Lin again as there was a mass audience who were intrigued enough to buy legos so they would definately spend money on watching a sequal to a film they loved.
